1. Release of Chimpanzee Movie

From Disneynature, comes a new movie- Chimpanzee — a remarkable story of individual triumph and family bonds.  Journey deep into the African rainforest and meet adorable Oscar. Watch the trailer here.  JGI Australia is grateful to Disneynature for a generous  donation to support our effort towards chimpanzee conservation.

Chimpanzee is available from iTunes from January 25. 

 

2. 2013 Membership

By becoming a member or donating monthly, you are the engaging in the most effective way to support JGI Australia’s work. You’ll be helping animals, people and the environment by providing consistent, reliable funds which enable us to focus less of our efforts on fundraising, and direct more time and resources into our vital work of creating solutionaries for a humane, peaceful and sustainable world.

All members who join in January and February 2013, will receive a free, organic cotton, JGI t-shirt! To join or make tax deductible monthly donations to JGI, click here.

4. Zoe Weil’s Solutionaries Tour- March 20-23

We are excited to bring Zoe Weil, Founder of the Institute for Humane Education, to Melbourne in March 2013. Zoe is a powerful presenter with strong messages on the vital role of Humane Education in creating a better world for all living things. She will present at key events on how we can all become Solutionaries. For further information, click here.

5. Other Events for 2013

  • March 12- Our patron, Peter Fitzsimons, will be the keynote speaker at the Geelong Chamber of Commerce President’s lunch.
  • June 18- Young Minds Conference, Sydney
  • late June – Art Exhibition, Melbourne – first public showing of an outstanding, privately owned collection of Aboriginal Art.

6. Letter from Solutionary, Tory West

Tory West’s Roots & Shoots journey began in 2006 when she first met Dr Jane in Australia. Inspired by Dr Jane, Tory started a R&S group at her school in Adelaide. She has since become a volunteer with JGI-Tanzania and recently met with children living with HIV/Aids. To read Tory’s letter to our JGI friends, click here.

 

7. Jane Goodall’s R&S Students in a Sticky Situation

In 2012, Christian College Geelong (CCG) participated in Melbourne Zoo’s Lord Howe Island Stick Insect breeding program. The Lord Howe Island Stick Insect is close to Dr Jane’s heart and is featured in her book Hope for Animals and Their World.  To read more, click here.
