The Jane Goodall Institute Australia welcomes back Dr Jane Goodall this June, to mark the 50 years of work in Africa, and Polli Designs has partnered with the Institute in Australia to create an exclusive range of jewellery.
The range of jewellrey created is a forest full of chimpanzees, and these have been made into earrings and a necklace from recycled stainless steel. An earring stand has also been created out of reclaimed wood depicting a forested African scene – Gombe, where Dr Jane Goodall commenced her work over 50 years ago.
Both JGI and Polli believe in a sustainable living and the partnership was developed to create something visually beautiful which was able to convey the plight of our Great Apes to a completely new group of people, making them aware and raising funds at the same time.
All proceeds from the jewellery will benefit the work of the Jane Goodall Institute Australia, founded in 2006, which assists in significant conservation programs in Africa and the Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program in Australia. Roots & Shoots is a global youth action program which operates in more than 120 countries. There are over 50 groups in Australia, all working on hands-on projects to benefit humans, animals and the environment in their own communities.
Dr Jane Goodall will commence her Sydney visit on June 5. World Environment Day, with an art exhibition opening, which will launch this new jewellery range. From Sydney Dr Goodall will travel to Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and then back to Sydney to then fly across the Tasman to Auckland & Dunedin for her first time.
"Our designs draw so much inspiration from the world around we can’t help but be passionate about protecting it. We are so inspired by the work of Dr Jane Goodall and thrilled to be collaborating with the JGI on this project." Tess Lloyd, Polli
