The Barwon Heads Community Hall was filled to capacity on January 7, as Jane's Journey was screened for the very first time in Australia.
Preceding the film was a performance by a Roots & Shoots group who wrote and performed their song,Change the View.
We are planning to hold a national film night on World Peace Day, whereby Roots & Shoots groups all around Australia can host their own Jane's Journey event. More details about that later in the year.

Made from silicone, our BYO coffee cups are firm but flexible, light-weight but tough, and will withstand 200ºC heat. They're pretty much indestructible which means they won’t contribute to the mountain of discarded disposable coffee cups shoved into landfill, that will never decompose because of their polymer lining.
More than 20 years ago, Dr. Jane Goodall, now 75, decided to give up her career as a primatologist, as well as her private life, in order to devote her entire energy to saving our endangered planet. Since then she’s been spending 300 days a year scouring the globe on her mission to spread hope for future generations. She has taken on the responsibilities of a UN Messenger of Peace, has been honoured with countless awards, was appointed “Dame of the British Empire” and was even admitted to the “Légiond’Honneur”, the highest decoration of France.
In “Jane’s Journey”, we accompany her on her travels across several continents, with unprecedented access to her intense and exciting past. From her childhood home in Bournemouth, England, we embark to ‘Gombe National Park’ on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, in Tanzania, her second home. This is where she began her groundbreaking research nearly half a century ago, and where to this day she still returns every year to enjoy the company of the chimpanzees that made her the internationally recognized activist so loved and deeply respected.
“Jane’s Journey” is an intimate portrait of the private person behind the world-famous icon – an exceptional woman, possibly the most fascinating woman of our time, whose scientific breakthroughs are considered to be among the most important of the past 100 years.

National Threatened Species Day on 7 September aims to encourage the community to prevent further extinctions of Australia's fauna and flora, and to restore healthy numbers of endangered species and ecological communities in the wild. September is also Biodiversity Month, a time when many Australians celebrate our unique and valuable biodiversity with activities to protect and conserve the environment.
On 6th August 2011 The Thin Green Line Foundation celebrated World Ranger Day by commemorating rangers who had been killed; awarding those who do so much to support their work; and celebrating the work of rangers. At their Gala Dinner event, Dr. Jane Goodall was awarded an Honorary International Ranger Award for 2011 for recognition of her dedication, commitment and support for rangers, their families and conservation internationally. Alicia Kennedy and Natalie Houghton from JGI Australia attended the event to accept the award on Dr. Goodall’s behalf.
Edgar's Mission Farm Sanctuary is once again proud to be a part of Planet Ark's National Tree Day and is calling on Mitchell Shire residents to get involved on Sunday, 31 July 2011.
“We are encouraging residents to make a positive difference and become a part of Australia's biggest community tree planting and nature care event” said Edgar's Mission founder and tree day co-ordinator, Pam Ahern. “It’s easy, fun and a small investment of time for great environmental and community benefits.”
